Salad Days Skateboard Co. Part 4: Moving On (1) (page 2) Life is a trip. No matter how, you define that last word also. Life can be a drug induced realization. Life can also just be a slight stumble in the main walk of existence, or possibly a destination. It can even be an activation, a turning off & on, of something in ourselves, or in others; like tripping a switch. I say this because, on April 1st, 2016 (April Fool's Day); I was told I had to move Salad Days out of the basement, which at the time wasn't completely unexpected; but due to the time constraints & other factors like, "Where in the hell are we moving this big ass ramp to in 30 days?" became priority. Including the conflictions with business operations, production dates of products & product development. It was so true, that at that time I had wished it was a joke instead but, it wasn't. The main reason I mention all of this is because the month before this happened, I had just figured out how to screen & expose my own graphics on skateboards. The week before I had got the news to move, I had actually screened my first Salinas COTS board there without stencils & spray paint. All the research & talking to others who were already doing it, had finally worked out. I was about to get a run of boards printed & expand into other designs as well. I was also starting the update to the website, including a professional product photo shoot that was scheduled to happen in 2 weeks & all of a sudden, I had to pack it all up & leave. Like I mentioned earlier, this was not an unexpected event, however this was an unplanned event. I always knew that Salad Days would not last down in that basement, so I always had a fund set aside for such a moment & began looking for a new location immediately. I ended up going through with the photo shoot, which I was glad to do & Tone even showed up to it when no other team rider would. After everything was packed up & in storage, a few months had passed. I found a new location in Seaside instead of Salinas & there were numerous reasons for doing this, which I will elaborate on some time in the future. Today, I am back exactly where I left off before the move & if not even more ahead of myself than I was back then. I've got the production room going again & if you are reading this, that means that the site update has happened. I'm in the process right now of jumping back into making screens & graphics on boards. I've already printed stickers, shirts, I've bought new equipment, built new equipment & probably did something else I didn't know I was going to do when I wrote this. (1) (page 2) (Next Post)
